A crankcase ventilation system (CVS) is a one way passage for the blow-by gases to escape in a controlled manner from the crankcase of an internal combustion engine.
Jul 13, 2006· I was reading the dos and donts and I read something that I have done on my car that is a dont. I took off the tube going to the tb from the vc and put a breather on the vc.
However -- and this is where crankcase ventilation comes in -- a certain amount of that mixture of air and gasoline is pulled down by the piston and slips through the piston rings into the crankcase, which is the protective cover that insulates the crankshaft.
Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) The PCV Valve. ... Some have the valve screwed into the intake manifold with a hose going to the engine to suckn out the blowby gasses. PCV inlet locations The earliest PCV systems had a vented oil cap like the old draft tube motors. Most PCV inlets are now via a hose to the valve cover from the air cleaner.

Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) was the very first of the emission controls (1964). It aims to prevent the crankcase from dumping fumes right into the atmosphere. This is a good system, and can actually help power and fuel economy.
The positive crankcase ventilation or PCV valve is an inexpensive and often overlooked component. It is also one possible cause of expensive oil leaks and sludge buildup in an engine. All automotive engines are lubricated with oil and when oil is churned by moving parts, pressure is produced.

In came the PCV which stands for Positive Crankcase Ventilation, named after the then head of the EPA Pierre Positive. This system makes the engine suck the junk out of the crankcase via the PCV Valve into the intake manifold and back thorough the system.
the fittings are not plugged and yes the valve cover baffle is in good shape. i know what pcv is and what it stands for i know how it works. i work on truck for a living. the issue isnt the pcv its that the intake is making to much vacuum. the pcv with the engine running keeps the crank case at manifold vacuum. so if there was a issue with the ...
Apr 17, 2011· If the PCV valve can't keep up with the blowby under a heavy load the gasses back up into the airfilter and are pulled back into the carb. The early PCVs didn't have this option. Normally the air flow is through this little filter down into this tube into the engine.
